In 2025, Women4Cyber Finland is joining forces with other Nordic non-profit organizations to bring the Nordic Women in Tech Awards (NWITA) to Finland.

If you’ve been following us on social media, you may have come across a few posts about these awards.

In this article, you can learn more about what they are, who is behind them and how nominations work.

NWITA & Women4Cyber Finland: towards the same goal

We are all aware that the tech industry is heavily male-dominated and needs more diversity. Many non-profit organisations have stepped in to empower women in pursuing careers in tech through role models, training, community, events, etc.

Women4Cyber Finland is one of these non-profits, and our goal is to build a more diverse and inclusive cybersecurity industry in Finland. The Nordic Women In Tech awards share the same goal on a broader level and expands the impact to the Nordic countries and the entire Tech industry.

NWITA: An event to celebrate and recognize Nordic Women In Tech

NWITA is an initiative established by the non-profit organization WonderCoders, an organisation “on a mission to inspire, empower and support women in Tech”. The entire team is exclusively volunteer-based, made of people sharing the same passion to achieve a more diverse technology field in the Nordic countries.

The event’s goal is to recognize women who have made outstanding contributions to the tech industry in the Nordic countries in the hopes that shining a light on these innovators and changemakers will pave the way for the next generation of women to enter the industry.

NWITA strongly believes that diversity and inclusivity play a key role in the future of the tech industry, which has so far been and still is heavily male-dominated. The event’s goal is to amplify the voices of all the women who have made significant contributions to the industry.

The journey so far

The NWITA initiative was started in 2019 and has been one of the fastest growing changemaker communities in the Nordics with over 11 000 community members and over 2 600 Role Models nominated from the Nordic tech scene.

The gala ceremony is organised annually in different Nordic countries, it initially started in Denmark and has been organised in different countries in the past few years.

In 2022 the event was held in Sweden, in 2023 in Iceland and in 2024 in Norway.

NWITA in 2025

The Gala’s journey in 2025 brings it to Finland as the ceremony will be held at Clarion Hotel Helsinki on the 10th of October 2025. This year, Women4Cyber Finland joined the ranks in the organisation of the Awards alongside the founders, WonderCoders, and the non-profits Women In Tech Norway and Women in Tech Iceland.

The best way to know what NWITA is about is to attend the event, if this interests you, stay tuned on our social media to find out when the tickets to attend the event will be available. But before that, you can be part of the change by submitting a nomination!
